13 Reasons Why: Looking back

A study published in Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry found a strong correlation between the release of the first season of 13 Reasons Why and an increase in teen suicides. This is what many people were worried about. I had to stop watching this show because I was so troubled by how they were ignoring all of the scholarship and caution about media depictions of suicide. I don’t know why the showrunners thought that they knew better. I hope that we can be more cautious going forward.
